What core updates means
A Google core update is a broad, site-wide change to how Google's ranking systems assess relevance and quality. Core updates are not penalties: they re-score the whole index against revised criteria, so a site can lose visibility without having done anything newly wrong. Recovery follows from improving the underlying content and site signals, not from removing a flag.
