# Google AI Overviews now show for many large brand queries

## The short answer

Google is showing AI Overviews for many large brand name queries. Chris Long said 93% of the brands he tested returned one, and Barry Schwartz saw the same on his own checks, apart from Google itself and news publications. Most appear lower on the page, not at the top. DemandSphere says branded AI Overviews tripled in September.

## Key takeaways

- Chris Long posted on X that 93% of the brands he tested, including Reddit, Salesforce, Amazon and Adobe, now show AI Overviews.
- Barry Schwartz says the sample is only about 100 brands, but his own checks agreed, except for Google's own name and news publications.
- Most examples place the AI Overview below the main company result or lower on the page, and Adobe is one that shows it at the top.
- DemandSphere said AI Overviews on branded queries tripled in September, and Search Engine Roundtable published that data as an update.

Google is showing [AI Overviews](/topics/ai-search) for more brand name searches. Chris Long posted
on X that Google is starting to show them for a lot of branded queries, naming Reddit, Salesforce,
Amazon and Adobe. Barry Schwartz covered it at Search Engine Roundtable on 30 September 2026.

## How many brand queries show one?

Long said 93% of the brands he tested had an AI Overview. Schwartz points out that this is only
about 100 brands, but he tried several himself and saw the same. The exceptions he found were
Google's own name and news publications, "for now". The source gives no testing method, so the
93% is one person's check, not a measured rate.

## Where do they appear?

Mostly not at the top. Adobe shows its AI Overview above the results for its name, but most
examples Schwartz shows sit below the main company result or further down the page. Wikipedia is
one of them.

Schwartz says he minds mid-page placement less than one above the company's own snippet.

## Does a Search profile matter?

Schwartz notes that his own brand, RustyBrick, does not show an AI Overview for its name, while
Search Engine Roundtable does. He guesses it is because the site has a Search profile. That is
his guess, not something Google has said. See our note on
[Search profiles](/news/google-search-profiles-update).

## Is it new or confirmed?

Not entirely new. Schwartz says Long made a similar observation in July 2026, but AI Overviews
now show for far more queries than they did then. Google has not commented in the source.

In an update, Schwartz shares a post from DemandSphere saying AI Overviews on branded queries
tripled in September. He gives no figures beyond that.

## What should brand teams check?

Search your own brand name and your main product names, on desktop and mobile, and note where the
AI Overview sits against your own result. If you track branded demand in Search Console,
the [branded query filter](/news/search-console-branded-query-filter) helps you isolate it.

## Frequently asked questions

### Do AI Overviews appear when you search a brand name?

Often, for large brands. Chris Long reported 93% of the brands he tested had one, and Barry Schwartz saw the same, except for Google's own name and news publications.

### Where does the AI Overview sit on a branded query?

Mostly lower on the page. Schwartz scrolled past the main company result in most examples, though Adobe showed its AI Overview at the top of the results.

### How reliable is the 93% figure?

It is one person's test of roughly 100 brands, as Schwartz notes. The source gives no method, so read it as a sign, not a measured rate.
